Digital Kazimierz KAZ_LAB 2021
02.07.2021 - 10:00 / Instytut Sztuki Mediów UP, ul. Podbrzezie 3You are invited to participate in unique multimedia workshops that will take place from 30 June to 2 July 2021 at the 30th Jewish Culture Festival. The workshops will teach you photographic techniques combined with the latest technologies and how to use them creatively.
The workshop was inspired by the works of the Krakow artist Jerzy Wroński, who in the 1980s developed his own technique of making photographs called “sootograms”. In his technique, he combined the properties of the clashing elements of fire and water with the possibilities offered by photography to achieve extremely original, unpredictable effects.
During the workshops, participants will not only learn about Wroński’s unique creative technique, but also, inspired by his work, will have the opportunity to create works combining traditional techniques and modern technology. Using the nature of the elements of fire and water, as well as digital image processing techniques, 3D scanning and creating virtual spaces, they will jointly create works commemorating Krakow’s district of Kazimierz as it is now and as it used to be.
The organizer of the workshop is the Film Form Centre at the Institute of Media Art of KEN Pedagogical University in Krakow. The event’s partner is Jewish Culture Festival.
The workshops have been financed from a project entitled “Laboratory of the Senses” co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund, announced by the National Centre for Research and Development.
